Feast of Four - July 2008

An evening menu of four one act plays was offered by the Masque Players. The Hors d’oeuvre Joining the Club written by David Tristram well directed by Lynn Rockell and competently acted the evening got off to a fine start. The Entree Someone Beginning With ‘D’ written and directed by Verity Richards offered an interesting concept on the lines of Big Brother but with women prisoners as the contestants however this was well below the calibre of the rest of the evening. The Main Course, and rightly so was a showcase for the youth branch of the Masque Players who go under the name of Masquerade. Calamity superbly written and directed by Steve Rockell it was clever, extremely funny and the young actors gave their all. Their talent and enthusiasm was evident and as they all played their parts to perfection it would be unfair to name just a few but a special mention must surely go to Alice Cook who was hilarious as Doris the tea lady. To round up the evening the dessert Last Tango in Little Grimley  also written by David Tristam  and again well directed by Lynn Rockell was a fitting end to the menu both funny and cleverly performed. However the greatest praise must surely go to Masquerade for their excellent performance, with talent like this the Masque Players are assured of a great future for many years to come.
